Homework - Week 5

Weekly Spelling Words
Focus: ‘or’ words. Check homework books for lists.
Task: Learn your 10 words. Practice them by using at least two spelling activities.

Reading
Focus: Reading 4 times a week (15-20 mins).
Task: Make sure your parents/adult signs your diary.

Literacy
Focus: Biographies
Task: For the next two weeks we are learning about biographies. We will begin our learning by first writing a biography about a family member. To help you write your family biography, you need to interview a family member. Take notes as you interview them. Bring your notes into school on Wednesday to help you write a biography about that family member. The children have brought a sheet home that provides the questions that they need to ask.

Maths
Focus: Money.
Task 1: Complete the money worksheet.

What's on This Week...? (Term 3, Week 6)

We are now at the half way point through the term and on the downhill run to holidays!!! With only a week and a half to go until camp, the children are getting excited. This week in Maths we focus on time. Specifically, telling the time to the minute and converting time. In English we are learning about biographies. First we will be writing a biography about a family member and then an explorer. We also look at verb tense. Last week we examined the ships and people of the First Fleet. This week, we extend that to focus in on a specific convict to see what life was like for him/her and why/how they became a convict. The children will select a convict and write about them as if they are that convict. They will incluede the use of use of pronous and present tense in their writing. In LAB we will look at the daily life of a convict in Sydney. Another jam packed week. Enjoy!

After a very busy and tiering couple of weeks, the swimming program has been completed. Well done swimmers - you all did a wonderful job! This week, the focus of our term topic 'First Contacts' turns from the early Age of Exploration to The First Fleet. This week we will look at what and who The First Fleet was, what was its importance in the history of Australia, who were the people of the First Fleet and what happened to them. In Maths, we will look at money, while in English our focus is descriptive writing as well as pronouns (eg. he and she). This week we also return to a normal timetable. Enjoy your week.
