Nude Food Day - Friday 28th November

3/4F will be celebrating Nude Food Day on Friday 28th November 2014. Nude Food Day is a nationwide initiative developed to encourage kids and parents to eat well and live well, and eliminate all unnecessary packaging and wrapping that goes into schools. Essentially, kids bring their food – nude! This will reduce the amount of rubbish that goes into the bins, that goes into the ground, that pollutes our planet. This is an amazingly simple concept that really empowers the kids to create change, you will be amazed with how enthused they can become! So, on Friday, please make sure your child's lunch is Nude!!! To find out more visit http://www.nudefoodday.com.au/.

Community Evening Song

Yesterday, the 3/4 classes began learning the first of two performances for the community evening. The song is called 'Volcano' and it was written and sung by the band 'The Presidents of the United States of America'. Here are the lyrics for children to practise at home.

Volcano

By The Presidents of the United States of America

Under the island... middle of a mountain
There is a big bad... boomin' system
Blowin' speakers... woofers and tweeters
Amplifiers... melted wires
The parties exploded... the core is corroded
Under ground... the Puget Sound
Cause a shiftin'... and a drifin'
Big black boom box...stuck in the hot rock
It's in there flowin'... it's in there growin'
You don't believe me... that this scenery
Could be a cold blooded killer

It's gonna blow... Volcano
It's gonna blow... Volcano
It's gonna blow... Volcano

Now the island is shiftin'... the plates are liftin'
The core is creamy...docile and dreamy
Stopped up and steamy
Happy campers... poop in there pampers
When the mountain... becomes a fountain
Of white hot lava... molten magna
Super sonic... plate techtonics
Stero phonic... lava and tonic
The boom is bionic
Sony shut down... magnavox meltdown
Ballistic breakdown
Hi-fi heatwave... lo-fi lava cave
That sulfur smells... Mt St Helens
Pompeii was yellin'...

It's gonna blow... Volcano
It's gonna blow... Volcano
It's gonna blow... Volcano
It's gonna blow... Volcano

3D Shapes

A couple of weeks ago, we learnt about 3D shapes. We made some using play-do, straws and spaghetti.

Our solar ovens at work

Today we tested our solar ovens by melting chocolate and marshmallow in between two biscuits. YUM! I think the pictures speak for themselves... A big thanks to Steve (Ella's Dad) for bringing in his home made solar oven and baking some delicious choc chips cookies for us all.
