PE on Monday

Hi 3/4F Families,

The timetable this week has been slightly amended for Monday and Tuesday. PE will now be on Monday after recess instead of Tuesday. Can you please ask the kids to bring their runners if they would like to on Monday for PE.

Welcome Back to Term 2!!

Hi guys,

Welcome back to school! I hope you all had a wonderful break. I did lots of things over the holidays and I'm looking forward to seeing you all again and hearing about all your adventures.

Term 2 is a busy one, with NAPLAN, moving classrooms (when work is completed in the corridor), all the amazing things we are going to learn and a heap of other things. But we will tackle the term one week at a time. I am excited to start our new topic Chemical Science. This will be heaps of fun.

Last Week Reminders

Hi 3/4F Family,

We have arrived at the last week of the first term already!! Here are some reminders:

- Jelly Bean Competition: We are raising money for Cystic Fibrosis by holding a guess the jelly beans competition. The competition closes on Thursday so please have a guess for $1. The jelly beans are outside the canteen each recess and lunch time. Also, come dressed up in jelly bean colours (for a gold coin donation) on the last day of term to celebrate!

- Finishing Time on Thursday: Students will finish at 2.30pm on Thursday. Please be there on time to pick up your child/children.

- New Specialist Blog: The specialist at Mitcham Primary have developed their own blog. I have included a link to it under the links section. The address is: http://www.mitchamspecialists.blogspot.com.au/.

3 Way Conferences This Tuesday

Murrindindi Visit

On Wednesday, the grade 2/3s and 3/4s had a visit from aboriginal elder Murrindindi. In the workshop we learnt about local aboriginal history, heard a dream time story, learnt about aboriginal artefacts, learnt aboriginal words, learnt how to throw a boomerang and heard Murrindindi play the didgeridoo. The children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. Some children were interested in where they could see him. Murrindindi has a show at Healesville Sanctuary as a part of the Birds of Prey show. He is there on Sundays and througout the school holidays.

3/4F Earth Hour Challenge

Are you up to the challenge? I have set 3/4F the challenge to participate in Earth Hour this Saturday night between 8.30pm and 9.30pm. What will you switch off? Use this as part of your homework!!! Add a comment below about how you made a difference this Earth Hour!

3/4F Didgeridoos

3 Way Conferences

Hi Parents/Guardians,

Premier's Reading Chellenge Update

Athletics Day, Murrindindi Visit and Questionarre

House Athletics
Just a reminder that due to the hot weather, House Athletics day has been postponed until Wednesday 27th March. A new form was sent home today. Please return this to school by Thursday 21st March.

Murrindindi Visit
Thanks to those that have already returned their Murrundindi School Visit form. The form and $7 is due back this Friday (15th March).

Parent/Teacher notices went hoe today. Please return them asap to get your preferred time (first in best dressed). Interviews will be held on 19th and 26th March.

Junior School Council Update!!!

Congratulations to Montannah and Atticus for being voted the 3/4F Junior School Council represantatives for 2013. I'm sure that they will do a wonderful job representing our class!

The class will vote for energy monitors early next week. Please make sure that you prepare your speeches if you would like to nominate for this role. Good luck.

If you would like to nominate for Junior School Counil or Energy Monitor and represent 3/4F this year (only if you have not held this role before), please prepare and bring in a speech by Friday. On Friday you will present your speech to the class. The class will then vote for a female and male representative for each role.

Premier's Reading Challenge

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Premier's Reading Challenge has begun! The aim for 3/4F is for ALL students to have completed the challenge before the end of term 1.

A form was provided to all students yesterday to record the books they have read. This was pasted in the back of their diaries. There is a section on the form for parents/guardians to sign once each book has been completed.

Each student must read 15 books (10 from the Premier's Reading Challenge List and 5 of their own choice). The list of books can be found at http://www.education.vic.gov.au/prc/.

Welcome to 3/4F

Welcome to grade 3 and 4! It's hard to believe that the holidays are over and we are all ready to go again for another year! I am looking forward to working with you this year and helping you learn and develop both academically and as a person.

This year will be lots of fun, and there is so much to do and learn. I hope you enjoy the year.
