Homework - Stone Pets

As a part of this week's homework, you are to collect an odd shaped stone that looks like an animal. You also need to collect materials that will be used to decorate your stone to turn it into a pet (such as buttons for eyes, wool for hair, a matchbox for a bed etc). Bring your stone and any materials you need into class on Wednesday 29th May. Do not make your stone pet yet, as you will be writing a procedure for someone else to make your stone pet!

Grandparent's/Special Friends Day

Grandparent's/Special Friend's Day is on Monday 20th May between 11.30am - 1:00pm in room 2. 3/4F students brought home hand made invitations this week inviting their grandparents or special friend(s) to our class on this day. Week 4 Homework

Hi 3/4F Parents,

Given that next week is NAPLAN week and it will be a full on week for all involved, there will be no formal homework issued this week for the class.

Instead, the children have been provided with a fraction chatterbox for them to make and use. Instructions have also been provided. They may even test you and your knowledge of fractions and decimals!

Children are still expected to read at least 4 times each week. Please record their reading in their diaries.

3D Shape Challenge

Hi 3/4F Families,

This week, we have been exploring 3D shapes. Here is a challenge for you to complete at home -

  • How many 3D shapes can you find around the house (eg. cereal box is a rectangular prism, coke can is a cylinder etc)?
  • How many verticies, edges and faces does each shape have? Explain what these terms mean to your parents.
Post your answers on the 3/4F Blog Spot.

Also, here is a link to a series of shape games that can be played at home: http://www.familylearning.org.uk/shape_games.html.

Happy shape hunting.
